A good leaflet does one job: tell someone nearby why they should call or scan today. This is not a corporate brochure. You are not fitting your entire service list on one A5 sheet.
Lead with the outcome
Write the headline for the householder, not for trade magazines.
- Boiler service from £89, book this week
- Free dental check-up for new patients in Leeds
Avoid vague lines like "Quality service since 1998" as the main headline. Put supporting details in smaller type beneath the offer.
Structure for A5 or A6
Most local campaigns use A5 or A6 sizes. Use this flow:
- Headline + hero photo
- Three bullet benefits
- Phone, QR, and one call to action
Keep margins generous. Cluttered leaflets end up in the bin before the kettle boils.
Colour and photos
Use high contrast text. One accent colour for prices is enough. Photos should show finished work or your team on site, not generic stock imagery.
Add a QR code linking to a mobile booking page. Follow print tips so it scans in hallway light.
Test before a big print run
Print one proof at final size. Ask someone who has not seen the draft what the offer is. If they hesitate, simplify. flyerfly.co.uk has leaflet templates with QR zones marked for print-ready export.
